Hoegaarden's story dates back to 1445 in the small village of Hoegaarden, where local monks began experimenting with wheat beer. They added orange peel and coriander from the Dutch East Indies, creating a unique flavour profile that set them apart.
After the tradition nearly vanished in the mid-20th century, Pierre Celis revived the style in his own dairy barn. His dedication ensured that the authentic recipe survived for future generations to enjoy.
Today, it remains a global benchmark for the witbier style, balancing ancient brewing wisdom with modern refreshment.
